Thursday, November 20, 2008
-
The members were hanging around the station today enjoying lunch in the new kitchen when the accident response (Co 69, Rescue 54 & Medic 1047) was hit for a crash in the rear of the Riddle Village property. Within a minute, Tac & Engine 69 rolled down the street to investigate. Upon arrival we found a single vehicle that had collided with a metal road closure gate. There was no entrapment & minor injury reported to the vehicles' operator. The assignment was held to Co 69 & EMS (Medic 1047 & Ambulance 69).  Crews cut the gate arm for the tow operator & secured the vehicle. Company 69 was available within 30 mins.

"The Wagon" headed up to J-Tech Monday morning for some lighting repairs & upgrades. The few remaining strobe packs on the body were swapped out for much more efficient (& cooler looking) LED packs. The light bars that were mounted over the rear cab doors were removed & replaced with Federal Signal Legend quarter bars. One of the LED bars from over the cab was relocated to the back of the rig. Thank you to the folks at J-Tech for yet again a job well done.

Santa has Arrived !!
Saturday, November 8, 2008
-
It's that time of year again.  This morning the members of Lima Fire Company were charged with the delivery of a Very Important Person. Santa Claus came back to make his annual appearance to all the good boys & girls at the Granite Run Mall. Santa arrived at the fire company just before 10am & met with all the members who were there to help him out. He boarded Truck 69 & recieved a grand enterance into the mall so all the children could see (& hear) that he had arrived. After a brief trip up, Santa was lowered right next to the excited group of children (& adults) who were gathered for Breakfast with Santa at the mall. Thanks again Santa.

PS - we've been real good this year........but you already know that

Saturday morning around 8am Engine 69 with a crew of 5 left for Oak Orchard DE to cover Indian River Fire Co., Station 80. Old friends and Members of Lima now running with Indian River met the crew and provided a nice visit;  Brian & Tarisa Morley, Past Chief’s 72 Rollie Walker Jr. and Ray Russell (part-timer there and still active with Concordville), was a pleasure to spend time with them. Covering with Engine 69 was Squad 21-6 from Mill Creek Fire Co. of New Castle County DE.

After participating in the housing ceremonies and parade with Indian River, the crews settled down for the evening and a fine dinner. Lima and Mill Creek were invited to attended the after party for the celebration that was held at their station.

Although no calls were run during the 24 hours there, a very restful time and a new relationship was begun between all 3 companies. Engine 69 returned to quarters on Sunday, October 26th around noon.

Tonight, members from stations 69 (Lima), 54 (Lenni Heights) & 72 (Aston Beechwood) took part in search & rescue training at station 69. Some members got their first taste at S.A.R. training & airpack operations. A few changes were made to the interior set up between evolutions to change things up a bit. It  was a good learning experience & refresher for the crews. This weekend the station participated in the Town Talk flea market at DCCC.  A great group of members came out to set up & man the concession stand throughout the day.  We had outstanding weather this year & sales were just as good.  We were inundated with hungry shoppers all day long. Even April & Phil Margera, parents of Bam Margera & co-stars of MTV\'s former hit show Viva La Bam, stopped by to partake in our refreshments. We thank all who came out to help support our booth as well as the members who made it possible. We\'re looking forward to our next opportunity to help out our friends at the Daily Times with this great event again.
